Should you pop a blister?

Yes or no answer!

First of all, congratulations for turning to a trusted authority on skincare. Who needs ‘doctors’, or ‘medical professionals’ with their fancy ‘degrees’ and ‘qualifications’? What you need is the advice of a wise old mollusc, after all, escaping from jars (and other such humiliating challenges) is very blister inducing, ouch!

So, are you supposed to pop blisters? Like so many things in life, it’s not a simple decision to make. On one hand, popping a blister removes the skin barrier that provides a clean, infection-preventing environment for healing (and if it’s a blood blister, well, ewww).

On the other hand, popping blisters is awesomely satisfying! In fact, President Trump was once observed removing a shoe and popping a blister in the Oval Office and was overheard to remark afterwards, ‘tremendous, that was simply tremendous! It was huuuuge, and I just had to pop it.’

On a serious note, please consider giving to DEBRA International, a charity supporting those affected by the rare genetic skin blistering condition, Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
