I’m gonna tell you about a cool octopus named Paul. He was just like any other octopus, but he did something amazing. He could predict who would win soccer games! People from all over the world got super excited about him.
Here’s how it worked: Paul had keepers who took care of him at the Sea Life Centre in Germany. They would give him two boxes of food, each one had a flag of a different team playing in a soccer match. Paul would pick one of the boxes to eat from, and that was his prediction for which team would win.
Most of the time, Paul predicted the outcomes of the games in which the German team was playing. He was really good at it! He got four out of six matches right in the Euro 2008, and he even predicted all seven of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup, including when they won third place against Uruguay.
But that’s not all! Paul also correctly chose Spain as the winner of the 2010 FIFA World Cup final. He was really good at this predicting thing. Out of 14 games, Paul got 12 predictions right. That’s an awesome success rate of about 85.7%.
Everyone loved Paul and thought he was really special. He became famous all around the world because of his incredible talent.
